SELL US YOUR USED TEXTBOOKS
Unlike tuition and fees; rent, food, and utilities; car, phone, and medical expenses; some of your textbooks will have value at the end of the term. You may want to keep some for reference and sell the rest at buyback.
What is textbook buyback?
Textbook buyback is the process of selling your used textbooks to the Bookstore. Most of the books purchased at buyback are used in current or future terms here at USU. If we don't need a book, we may buy it for a national wholesaler for use elsewhere in the country. The best part is that you will receive instant cash. The amount you receive depends on the demand for the book.
When can I sell at buyback?
The USU Bookstore does buyback on a daily basis. Simply bring your books to the Customer Service window in the hall outside the Bookstore Monday Friday from 9 am 4 pm. In addition, end-of-term buyback is held for 7-8 days around finals week. Watch and listen for signs and ads telling where and when. These are our big buys where more titles are purchased by the Bookstore. They are also generally the best time to sell your books. Remember to come early in the buy for the best results.
Buyback Pointers
- For the best outcome, come early in finals week. When the Bookstore has filled its quota, the wholesaler may buy your book, but at a lower price.
- Remember there is no guarantee that a book will be purchased at buyback. It's that old supply and demand rule.
- If a class is only taught one semester a year, you may want to wait until the next end-of-term buyback to sell your book when we are buying for that same term the next year.
- Take care of your books, so they are in good condition to sell.
- Books must be free from water damage or stains
- Bindings must be solid and unbroken.
- No missing, loose or torn pages.
- Minimal highlighting, notes, and underlining
- We cannot accept instructor editions, overseas editions, custom course readers, or illegally photocopied books.
